About Jim and Sue and Livin' Spoonful...

Before we met and Livin' Spoonful began, we had both devoted time to creating good food and sharing it with others in our work and home lives. Jim had worked with organic produce as a cook and delivery driver, and Sue had farmed and gardened for organic Community Supported Agriculture farms, and worked at People's Food Co-op. We both shared a vision for how food can be the source for sustainability, community, and personal and planetary health.

Livin' Spoonful came into being June of 2002, after Jim's co-workers kept raving about his raw hummus. He felt really excited that so many people can appreciate raw food when they find out how good it tastes! We saw the need for delicious prepared raw foods and how much it means to people right now to have healthy alternatives.

After beginning with one hummus flavor on the market, we now have dehydrated cookies and crackers along with three hummus flavors on the shelves of stores from Ashland, Oregon, to Everett, Washington. We also represent and distribute raw products from other small local manufacturers. As a distributor, our mission is to support the advancement of living-foods, high-enzyme nutrition through the economic development of locally-owned, raw food businesses.

Livin' Spoonful is a small, family owned business. Our choice to own our own business gives us the flexibility to take care of our daughter- the joy of our lives!- and to accommodate our own needs for rejuvenation.

We are so grateful for the help and inspiration of many supporters in our community. Composting, using biodegradable and recycled packaging where possible, and selling in bulk are ways we work to reduce waste. We work with local organic farmers to supply our ingredients when appropriate.

We take great pride our creative approach to combining traditional recipes with methods that keep foods fresh, raw, and alive to your taste buds. We hope that our products can help people to transform their lives and the future of the planet.
